(Slay News) – Florida’s Republican Governor Ron DeSantis fired back at Kamala Harris after the vice president seemed to politicize the tragic hurricane that devastated Florida.
“I think she is trying to play identity politics with a storm, and a natural disaster,” DeSantis said.
“I think it’s ridiculous.
“And honestly, we had the FEMA administrator in Florida with us, and she threw cold water on that, so that is not going to happen.
“It’s totally not appropriate,” the governor asserted.
“You don’t have to politicize every single tragedy in this country.
“And I think people – I tell you in Florida are really sick of the nonsense.
“They just want people to be helped, they want everyone to band together, they want us to get these communities back on our feet.
“So, that’s what we’re doing in Florida.
“The impacts spanned all demographics, all income levels.
“Sanibel has some very wealthy people.
“They also have blue-collar people.
“You have other communities, different race, different ethnicities.
“Who cares?” he said.
“We just want to make sure people have a chance to get back on their feet and get moving forward again.”

Harris said about Hurricane Ian aid:
“It is our lowest income communities and our communities of color that are most impacted by these extreme conditions…
“I know we are all thinking about the families in Florida and Puerto Rico with Fiona and what we need to do to help them in terms of an immediate response and aid.
“We have to address this in a way that is about giving resources based on equity, understanding that we fight for equality, but we also need to fight for equity.
“Understanding not everyone starts out at the same place, and if we want people to be in an equal place, sometimes we have to take into account those disparities.”
You can’t make this up.
Kamala Harris said the administration will be giving hurricane resources “based on equity” by directing funds to “communities of color.”

As Slay News reported, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Administrator Deanne Criswell fired back at Harris over the comments.
“We’re going to support all communities,” Criswell said on “Face the Nation” in response to Harris.
“One of the things that I have known, and I have experienced, responding to other disasters is that there are people that often have a hard time accessing our programs, there are barriers to our program,” she added.
“One of our focus areas, since I’ve been in office, is to make sure that we’re removing those barriers.”
