(Slay News) – Florida’s Republican Governor Ron DeSantis has humiliated “that little elf” Dr. Anthony Fauci by calling for someone to “chuck” the top federal health official “across the Potomac” river.
DeSantis, an outspoken critic of Fauci, took aim at the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) during a recent speech.
While mentioning Fauci’s recently-announced retirement from federal service, DeSantis said he’s “sick of seeing” President Joe Biden’s chief medical advisor.
The governor blasted Fauci for “saying his lockdowns didn’t cause any permanent damage to any young kids.”
He then disputed Fauci’s comments, saying the impact of lockdowns will be felt across America “for year and years and years because they treated kids so poorly.”
“I know he says he’s gonna retire — someone needs to grab that little elf and chuck him across the Potomac,” DeSantis said during a speech.
His remark elicited a round of applause from the audience.
Fauci recently announced that he plans to resign from his various government roles in December, shortly before the new Congress starts on January 3.
The conveniently-timed retirement comes as Republicans prepare to investigate Fauci once they take back the majority in the House and Senate, which is widely expected after the November midterms.
“I am announcing today that I will be stepping down from the positions of Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and Chief of the NIAID Laboratory of Immunoregulation, as well as the position of Chief Medical Advisor to President Joe Biden. I will be leaving these positions in December of this year to pursue the next chapter of my career,” Fauci said in a statement.
