(Slay News) – Florida’s Republican Governor Ron DeSantis has just got the last laugh in his feud with California’s Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom.
Newsom has suffered a major humiliation after it emerged that members of his own family have been donating to DeSantis.
Newsom and DeSantis have been waging a slow-burning feud in anticipation of a possible fight for the presidency in 2028 or maybe even 2024.
It seems unlikely that President Joe Biden will run again and, according to recent polls, a huge majority of Democrat voters do not want him to either.
Meanwhile, Newsom appears to be preparing to make a big for the White House in 2024 in place of Biden.
DeSantis has an election coming up against Charlie Crist in Florida and is the clear GOP frontrunner for the nomination in 2028.
Should Trump decide not to run in 2024, then DeSantis would be the top choice for Republicans.
Newsom has been running ads in Florida denouncing DeSantis, claiming “freedom is under attack” and just donated $100,000 to the campaign of Charlie Crist.
DeSantis fired back at one point saying he sees “a lot of California license plates in his state, if you go to California, you ain’t seeing very many Florida license plates.”
DeSantis has otherwise ignored Newsom’s attacks.
Nevertheless, records have now emerged that show Newsom’s father and mother-in-law donated to DeSantis, giving the Florida governor the last laugh in the feud.

From Fox News:
According to contribution records on the Friends of Ron DeSantis PAC website, the Siebel Family Revocable Trust made a $5,000 contribution on April 6, 2022.
That trust is run by Kenneth F. Siebel Jr. and Judith A. Siebel, the parents of Newsom’s wife, Jennifer Siebel, records obtained by Fox News Digital show.
Newsom’s father-in-law Kenneth Siebel has a long history of making donations to GOP candidates, according to Federal Election Commission filings.
His most recent donations include contributions to the campaigns of Republicans Sens. Ron Johnson, Tom Cotton and Josh Hawley.
