(Slay News) – Wealthy liberals on Martha’s Vineyard gave up the game and are sending the 50 migrants, who arrived on the exclusive island via planes from Florida, to shelter at Joint Base Cape Cod.

The migrants arrived in Martha’s Vineyard after being flown there from the Southern Border by Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Emilie Ikeda, a reporter for NBC, said: “HAPPENING NOW: Migrants, flown into Martha’s Vineyard by Fl’s governor, are boarding buses.

“They’ll be heading to Joint Base Cape Cod, according to officials.

“125 Mass National Guard members are being activated to assist.”

“JBCC is a facility already designated by MEMA as an emergency shelter in Barnstable County, and its existing infrastructure provides a safe temporary accommodation appropriate for the needs of families and individuals,” Gov. Charlie Baker said in a statement.

“Additionally, the facility can provide dedicated space for access to legal services and other essential services such as basic healthcare.”

According to CBS:

The migrants will live in “dormitory-style spaces” at the base, and families will not be separated, Baker said.

Joint Base Cape Cod covers nearly 21,000 acres over Mashpee, Bourne and Sandwich and abuts Falmouth.

Baker noted it has previously been used as a shelter for those impacted by Hurricane Katrina, and was home to a field hospital when the COVID pandemic started.

From The Vineyard Gazzette:

In a real estate transaction that was completed this week, former Secretary of State John F. Kerry has purchased a historic waterfront property at Seven Gates Farm in Chilmark.

Acting through a private realty trust, Mr. Kerry paid $11.75 million for 18.5 acres and a house overlooking Vineyard Sound.

The sellers are Michael C. Fulenwider, representative of the estate of Constance Morrow Fulenwider, and Michael C. Fulenwider, Anne M. Fulenwider, and Wendy F. Liszt. All are relatives of Margot Wilkie, whose parents were the original owners of the property. Mrs. Wilkie died in 2013. The property went on the market last July with an asking price of $13.95 million.

The seven-bedroom house dates to 1924 and sits on one of 39 original sites that were created over time by the Seven Gates Farm Corporation on land originally collected by Nathaniel Shaler in the 19th century.
