(The Post Millennial) – Several important Democratic members of the Senate have promised to vote against the Biden-backed nomination of Saule Omarova to the Office of Comptroller of the Currency, due to concerns over her probable Marxist inclinations.
Among other things, Omarova, currently a professor of law at Cornell University, has spoken out in favor of having the Federal Reserve get involved in private banking. She has expressed a desire to “end banking as we know it,” and has gone on record as being opposed to free markets, even one time actually defending the USSR.
According to the Daily Caller, “In a book titled ‘The Seven Sins of Wall Street: Big Banks, Their Washington Lackeys, and the Next Financial Crisis,’ Omarova was quoted praising Marxist policies, saying they changed her world view, the Daily Caller News Foundation reported.”
Because of all of the above and possibly more, Senators Jon Tester (D-NT), Mark Warner (D-VA), Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ), Jon Hickenlooper (D-CO) and Mark Kelly (D-AZ) have manifested that they will break with the party line and vote against confirming her nomination.
Since the Senate is evenly split at this moment, it appears highly unlikely that Omarova’s nomination will be successful.
