SHOCK: MSNBC’s Joy Reid TRASHES Christian Super Bowl Ads

Must Read

(SNews) – MSNBC host Joy Reid joined Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., in trashing two Super Bowl ads promoting Jesus Christ. AOC said, “Something tells me Jesus would *not* spend millions of dollars on Super Bowl ads to make fascism look benign.”

Reid began by trashing all of this year’s Super Bowl ads saying they “were really not that great, but two from a group called ‘He Gets Us,’ really stood out – telling viewers to be childlike and urging us to look past our differences with a tagline, ‘Jesus loved the people we hate.’

“But what those ads didn’t tell you is who was behind the He Gets Us campaign. It’s part of a $100 million campaign to help promote Christianity and build the brand of Jesus, according to its backers.”

She said the Alliance Defending Freedom is the conservative legal group is behind the ads and they “drafted the Mississippi law at the heart of the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe V. Wade and are behind a Texas lawsuit seeking to reverse the FDA’s approval of the abortion pill.

“In other words, it’s not as apolitical as ‘He Gets Us’ claims.

“And I think it is fair to say Jesus Christ wouldn’t spend millions of dollars on television ads promoting his image.

“But who knows?

“Next year, if his brand is sufficiently promoted maybe he can find a way to improve the officiating.

“Just saying.”

The group said of its ad: “We see conflict all around us. We align ourselves on different sides of the fight in battles of politics, religion, justice, and too often, we let that conflict morph from a dignified defense of something good into a dehumanizing attack on the people we don’t agree with.

“It’s tearing us apart. But Jesus offered us an alternative as an example — and his solution wasn’t to grow apathetic and avoid the conflict altogether.

“He showed us something else entirely, a third way. His response to the ever-increasing volume of hate and conflict was love. Not just any love — confounding, sacrificial, selfless love.

“You see, Jesus still stood up for what he believed in.

“He defended the defenseless, spoke up on behalf of the voiceless, even flipped a few tables, but in everything he did, he first moved with love toward the people he disagreed with.

“What if we tried to love our enemies the way Jesus loved his? How would it change the tenor of our conflicts and our conversations?”
