(TStarnes) – A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputy was ambushed and shot in the head in Palmdale. KCAL reports the deputy was found slumped over wheel of his unit, with a gunshot in the back of the head. The officer is reportedly in grave condition
Video, which you can watch below, shows multiple first responders rushing to the scene — and loading the stricken officer into an ambulance.
Video obtained by ABC7 shows deputies putting up crime scene tape near the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station at the corner of Sierra Highway and Avenue Q, blocking off several streets.
There’s no word on a suspect or suspects. We will update when information is made available.

UPDATE 11:54 PM: Rep. Mike Garcia (R-CA) issued a statement regarding the “heartbreaking reports from the Antelope Valley.
“Hearing heartbreaking reports from the Antelope Valley of a sheriff with a gunshot wound in front of the Palmdale Station. “Rebecca and I are praying for this local hero and his family. Law enforcement officers in our district have been under a tremendous amount of stress and hardship recently. God bless this officer and his family. There is no excuse for this type of cold-blooded violence.”
UPDATE: “Prayers for Palmdale tonight,” Assemblyman Tom Lackey wrote on Twitter.
UPDATE: The deputy sheriff was found unresponsive, according to KCAL.
