Former President Donald Trump has stated that tax dollars should no longer be allocated to fund NPR. This comes after NPR Senior Editor Uri Berliner revealed instances of clear network bias. In a critical essay, Berliner disclosed that NPR’s Washington, DC, headquarters employs 87 registered Democrats in editorial positions, while having zero Republicans in the same roles.
Despite his own left-leaning views, Berliner expressed his opposition to NPR’s left-wing narratives and potentially false information regarding the coronavirus “lab leak theory,” Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), the “Don’t Say Gay” bill, Hunter Biden’s laptop, former President Donald Trump, and the 2016 Russia hoax.
“NO MORE FUNDING FOR NPR, A TOTAL SCAM! EDITOR SAID THEY HAVE NO REPUBLICANS, AND IS ONLY USED TO ‘DAMAGE TRUMP,’” Trump wrote Wednesday on Truth Social. “THEY ARE A LIBERAL DISINFORMATION MACHINE. NOT ONE DOLLAR!!!”
NPR’s budget was subsidized by taxpayer funds, accounting for nearly 11 percent of its total funding.
NPR’s financial situation seems to be deteriorating. In 2023, the organization, which relies on taxpayer funding, had to lay off around 10 percent of its workforce. The number of employees decreased from approximately 1,200 to about 1,050 due to insufficient revenue generation by this left-wing media company.
