Former CNN anchor Chris Cuomo, now a host on NewsNation, has shifted his stance against the Democrats, cautioning the public about the potential risks of four more years with President Joe Biden. Cuomo, once synonymous with the Democratic Party, hinted at considering voting for President Donald Trump in the upcoming 2024 election.
During an interview on the “PBD Podcast,” Cuomo expressed concerns about Biden’s leadership and suggested that America might have been better off under Trump’s presidency. Cuomo acknowledged that Biden is “absolutely not” the best person for the role of President.
“Joe was nice when my father died,” Cuomo said.
“He said nice things to us. That’s nice.
“Do I think [Biden] is the best of us? No.
“Do I think he’s the best we can do as president? Absolutely not.
“Do I think he’s the best the Democrats can do? Hell, no.”
Responding to the criticisms, podcast host Bet-David inquired if Cuomo would consider abstaining from voting in the event of a 2024 rematch between Biden and Trump.
“If you get those two, though, you going to sit it out?” Bet-David asked.
“If it’s Biden-Trump…” Cuomo began.
“Look, for me, again, we survived a Trump administration.
“Would we survive another one? Yes.”
At this juncture, Cuomo began to express critical views on the Democrats, casting a shadow on Biden’s prospects.
I don’t think there’s any greater risk to America with him, than with Biden,” Cuomo matter-of-factly stated.
Given that Biden framed the 2020 general election campaign by asserting that Trump posed a serious threat to democracy, Cuomo’s evaluation delivers a significant blow to the Democratic president.
“And for people who are now going to attack me, and say ‘What are you talking about? Trump is like this crazy man’ and look,” Cuomo explained.
“You know, as Patricks says, the data is the data.
“Nobody was trying to kill us when Trump was president, in a way that they’re not now.
“If anything, there’s more hostility.
“And you can have reasons for that, any way you want, I’m just saying, existentially, I’m not afraid of a Trump presidency.
“Existentially, I’m not afraid of another Biden presidency, because unlike many people in America, I believe that the country is much stronger than any individual leader.”
Bet-David then pressed Cuomo about who he would vote for.
“I don’t even know why, but you know, in terms of who I’m going to vote for … I would really have to see where we are at that moment in time,” Cuomo explained.
“So you’re open to a Trump vote?” Bet-David further pressed.
At this juncture, Cuomo delved into a convoluted response that seemed to be an attempt to sidestep the question. Nevertheless, considering the entirety of his remarks in the interview, it was evident that Cuomo is considering the possibility of voting for Trump, even if he hasn’t yet committed to officially endorsing the 45th president.
Cuomo’s remarks surface amidst ongoing speculations about Democrats considering alternatives to Biden on the 2024 ticket. There are rumors suggesting the potential consideration of former First Lady Michelle Obama, while California Gov. Gavin Newsom seems to be positioning himself as a potential replacement for the Democratic nominee in 2024.
Certainly, when influential Democrats publicly entertain the idea of voting for Trump instead, it casts a shadow over Biden’s campaign.
