(CBrief) – Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R), frustrated by inaction from President Joe Biden’s administration to do more to shore up border security among record illegal immigration and drug smuggling, has ordered more barriers erected along the state’s boundary with Mexico.

“Photos published by El Paso’s KFOX-TV show National Guard soldiers erecting razor-wire barriers in West Texas near the state’s border with New Mexico. The barriers are going up close to the city of Sunland Park, New Mexico,” The Western Journal reported, citing the outlet.

In an X platform post on Monday, Abbott wrote, “Migrants are entering New Mexico illegally then crossing into Texas. We are stopping it.”

Abbott’s efforts to shunt illegal border crossings into Texas, which have overwhelmed the states’ border communities, began in earnest last year.

Initially, the governor signed an executive order that instructed the Texas National Guard to be deployed and to bring the illegal immigrants back to the border.

“While President Biden refuses to do his job and enforce the immigration laws enacted by Congress, the State of Texas is once again stepping up and taking unprecedented action to protect Americans and secure our southern border,” the governor said in the press release on Thursday. “The cartels have become emboldened and enriched by President Biden’s open border policies, smuggling in record numbers of people, weapons, and deadly drugs like fentanyl.”

“As noted in the executive order, the Biden Administration ‘has abandoned the covenant, in Article IV, § 4 of the U.S. Constitution, that ‘[t]he United States . . . shall protect each [State in this Union] against Invasion,’ and thus has forced the State of Texas to build a border wall, deploy state military forces, and enter into agreements as described in Article I, § 10 of the U.S. Constitution to secure the State of Texas and repel the illegal immigration that funds the cartels,’” he said.

“I have authorized the Texas National Guard and Texas Department of Public Safety to begin returning illegal immigrants to the border to stop this criminal enterprise endangering our communities,” he said. “As the challenges on the border continue to increase, Texas will continue to take action to address those challenges caused by the Biden Administration.”

Last month, he issued another order sending elements of the Texas National Guard and Department of Public Safety troopers to Eagle Pass to assist local authorities after the border town mayor issued a disaster declaration, according to NewsNation.

In fiscal year 2023, the Eagle Pass sector of the southern border has seen a staggering 270,000 encounters with unauthorized migrants. But on Wednesday, sources with U.S. Customs and Border Protection reported that a record-breaking 10,000 individuals entered the town from Mexico in a single day.

“Numbers like that haven’t been seen since before the end of the pandemic-era policy Title 42, which allowed officials to turn migrants away on public health grounds. Before Title 42’s expiration May 11, illegal crossings started to surge, although shortly after the policy was lifted, they dropped dramatically,” NewsNation reported.

“There has been a situation the last couple of days where we have gotten an influx of immigrants crossing through Eagle Pass. And it has taken a toll on our local resources,” Eagle Pass Mayor Rolando Salinas told NewsNation after he issued the disaster declaration.

“I’ve been getting a lot of calls from our constituents, and they get worried — they see a lot of a lot of people in our community. But it is my understanding that some of these people, they don’t want to be there. So they’re leaving [the shelters], and they’re on our streets, and I understand the concerns of a lot of people,” Salinas noted further.

(CBrief) – Another Democrat appears set to challenge an aging, increasingly brittle President Joe Biden, according to a Friday report, even as the national party has already said it won’t accommodate any primary debates.

Rep. Dean Phillips (D-Minn.) “has begun making calls to Democratic operatives and officials in New Hampshire, the latest step he’s taken toward launching a primary challenge against” Biden, Politico reported.

Phillips called New Hampshire Democratic Party Chair Ray Buckley late last week to introduce himself; Politico added that Phillips confirmed the phone call to the outlet.

“I called Chairman Buckley yesterday to introduce myself as I contemplate entering the Democratic primary,” he said. “It was a very friendly conversation.”

In addition, he said he also contacted potential staffers in New Hampshire.

Politico noted that Phillips has frequently, in the recent past, called for someone to challenge Biden, who he feels is too old to serve another term:

The Minnesota Democrat has regularly called for Biden to face a 2024 primary challenger, criticizing the president for not “pass[ing] the torch” to the next generation of Democratic leaders. Phillips withdrew from House Democratic leadership earlier this month, amid concern that his flirtation with a primary bid was causing a distraction. He has met with Democratic donors over the summer about a potential run.

“He’s doing the things you would do if you’re running — or if you’ve not officially decided and you’re trying to check what the reception would be,” a New Hampshire Democratic political operative told Politico on condition of anonymity.

That said, Politico noted that Phillips will need to quickly decide if he wants to challenge Biden, as the filing deadline for the New Hampshire primary is in two weeks.

In August, Biden’s reelection campaign, such as it is, got off to a rocky start, just as new allegations of corruption and scandal engulf him and his son, Hunter Biden.

Biden campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodríguez on Friday canceled an MSNBC interview following U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland’s announcement that he appointed a questionable U.S. attorney as special counsel to investigate Hunter Biden’s foreign business deals, The New York Times reported.

The Times reported that the campaign canceled the interview so it could “avoid facing a litany of questions about the president’s son, according to two people familiar with the scheduling.”

The cancellation led The Western Journal to note: “It’s a bad sign when the Biden camp dodges a left-wing cable network with a history of feeding softball questions to Democrats.”

“This is exactly, exactly why, I’m trying to raise the alarm,” Phillips told Politico at the time, following the special counsel appointment of U.S. Attorney David Weiss to investigate Hunter Biden. “It is another reason why I wish this call to action that I’m trying to inject into the Democratic Party would be heard.”

Weiss has been investigating Hunter since 2018 but failed to bring any charges. He was also responsible for helping craft the “sweetheart” plea deal to keep Hunter out of jail permanently that fell apart in a federal courtroom in Delaware in July.

Biden’s age and apparent decline in mental status have increasingly become a concern to a growing number of voters. And last month, a physician made the claim that she didn’t think Biden could pass a mental acuity exam.

Dr. Carole Lieberman, who has made appearances on Oprah Winfrey, Dr. Phil, Fox News, and CNN, told the Real America’s Voice streaming network that voters should not simply focus on Biden’s age — he’s 80, and he would be 82 on Inauguration Day if he wins again next year.

(SNews) – An illegal alien from Honduras, who has previously been deported twice from the United States, has been arrested on murder charges after two bodies were found in Nashville, Tennessee.

Illegal border crosser Kevin Castro-Garcia, 31, was charged with two separate murders after authorities discovered a “badly burned” body inside a torched car and a decomposing body in the trunk of a different vehicle.

Castro-Garcia, who was last deported under President Donald Trump’s administration, was charged in the fatal shooting of 37-year-old Elmer Nahum Miranda-Martinez.

Nashville Metropolitan Police said Tuesday that Miranda-Martinez’s body was found on September 27 in a car that had been set on fire in a wooded area on Franklin Limestone Road.

Detectives believe Miranda-Martinez was shot and killed before his body was stuffed into the trunk.

The motive for the shooting remains under investigation, police said.

On Friday, police announced Castro-Garcia was also being charged with a second murder and abuse of a corpse.

The second charge is related to the death of 26-year-old Brandon Rivas-Noriega, of Nashville.

Rivas-Noriega’s decomposing body was found in the trunk of a different car off Rural Hill Road.

The 26-year-old was reported missing by his mother on October 5.

Rivas-Noriega’s family received text messages from him indicating that he was in trouble and needed money, FOX17 Nashville reported, citing police.

The mother said she last saw him driving her 2015 Ford Focus just two days earlier.

Detectives learned that the missing man would often visit a residence on Fanning Drive in the city’s Antioch neighborhood.

During a search of the residence, investigators found the owner’s manual for a Ford Focus, Rivas-Noriega’s driver’s license, and paperwork for a property on Rural Hill Road.

After arriving at the Rural Hill Road property, police said that detectives found a Ford Focus parked behind an abandoned trailer.

The decomposing remains were found inside the trunk.

The remains were identified as Rivas-Noriega through an autopsy.

Police said the victim died from multiple gunshot wounds, adding that several tattoos had been cut out from the man’s body.

Castro-Garcia remains jailed on $1.01 million bond, according to online jail records.

Police said he was deported from the U.S. in 2010 and 2018.
