The Texas Military Department has affirmed its commitment to maintaining control over Shelby Park as part of its ongoing efforts to discourage and prevent unauthorized entry into the State of Texas.
Despite receiving a second demand letter from the Department of Homeland Security to relinquish control of the park, the Texas National Guard, under the directives of Operation Lone Star issued by Governor Greg Abbott, will persist in their actions. Governor Abbott has also expressed his determination to continue deploying razor wire along the Rio Grande border with Mexico.
“We remain resolute in our actions to secure our border, preserve the rule of law, and protect the sovereignty of our State,” TMD officials announced.

Governor Abbott remains resolute in his stance on illegal immigration, as evidenced by his recent statement following the issuance of a second letter by DHS officials to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. In response to the demand for access to Shelby Park in Eagle Pass, Texas, Governor Abbott defiantly declared, “We will continue to deploy this razor wire to repel illegal immigration.”

The U.S. Supreme Court overturned a Temporary Restraining Order issued by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit on Monday. This decision effectively permits U.S. Border Patrol agents to remove or cut the razor wire that was installed by the Texas Military Department along the Rio Grande’s banks. Governor Abbott promptly responded to this development by stating, “This is not over. Texas’ razor wire is an effective deterrent to the illegal crossings Biden encourages.”
