There was widespread speculation following an incident during CNN host Wolf Blitzer’s interview with Democrat Rep. Jamie Raskin, where Blitzer appeared to experience a medical episode. He was subsequently replaced by another CNN host.
The incident occurred on Thursday during Blitzer’s “Situation Room” show, when he seemed to be in distress. The camera swiftly switched to a full screen of the Maryland Democrat.
Shortly after, the show abruptly transitioned to a commercial break. Upon its return, a new anchor was seen occupying the host chair.
“Wolf had to step away, but he’ll be back,” CNN anchor Paula Reid said to a baffled audience.
After the episode occurred, Wolf took to social media to give an update:
“I’m fine! Thanks for the well wishes. I’ll see you back in the Situation Room soon,” he said.
“Wolf wasn’t feeling 100% while anchoring Thursday night. He looks forward to being back in the Situation Room and appreciates the well wishes,” CNN said to Washington Post reporter Will Sommer.
