Sheriff Brad Coe of Kinney County, Texas, has issued a stern warning to President Joe Biden and his administration regarding the ongoing illegal migrant crisis at the Southern Border. In an interview on Fox News’s “America’s Newsroom,” Sheriff Coe expressed his concerns about a potential “human tsunami” that could overwhelm the border during the 2024 election.
He suggested that the Democrats might organize large migrant caravans over the summer to influence the outcome of the presidential election. Additionally, Sheriff Coe believes that migrants will attempt to cross the open border before any potential closure by former President Trump, should he win the election.
While expressing gratitude towards Republican Texas Governor Greg Abbott for his assistance in mitigating the border crisis, Sheriff Coe expressed disappointment in the lack of support from the federal government, despite the increased risks faced by his deputies and the local community in the past year.
“I’ve got six full-time deputies,” he told hosts Dana Perino and Bill Hemmer.
“Those guys were involved in over 260 high-speed pursuits.”
Coe claimed that they successfully apprehended 90% of the individuals under suspicion. Nevertheless, Coe expressed apprehension regarding the safety of children due to the presence of a school along the primary route through town.
During an interview with Bret Baier from Fox News, Alejandro Mayorkas, the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), attempted to attribute the lack of substantial resources in his department to Congress’s failure to allocate them.
Furthermore, he seemed to dismiss the legitimacy of the impending impeachment proceedings initiated by Republicans.
“We are enforcing the laws that Congress has passed,” he said in part.
Mayorkas further stated that despite President Biden’s request to Congress for additional funding to enhance the number of CBP agents and implement new technology, the legislature has failed to provide any support, thereby neglecting their responsibility to pass laws that his office can enforce.
“… until they fix those broken laws that haven’t been reformed in more than 30 years,” he said.
He provided an explanation stating that prior to the inauguration, migrants would gather at the border.
“I guarantee you, from the election to the time of his inauguration, we will see a human tsunami coming across that border,” he said.
