Russian authorities have reported the arrest of an individual believed to be a potential assassin sent by Ukraine to target Tucker Carlson in Moscow. The Kremlin has accused Ukrainian intelligence of masterminding the plot, alleging that the suspect, a resident of Podolsk, Russia, was planning to use an explosive device to carry out the assassination during Carlson’s recent visit to interview President Vladimir Putin.

The suspect was apprehended by Russian counter-terrorism units before he could carry out the attack, with officials claiming that he was following orders from Ukraine’s State Intelligence Directorate. The intended location for the attack was the underground parking lot of the Four Seasons Hotel, where Carlson was staying, indicating that the plan was timed to coincide with his visit to Russia for the interview with Putin from February 1 to February 8.

The reactions on social media regarding these allegations have been varied, nevertheless.

Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) emphasized the importance of protecting journalists.

Russia claims that the individual in question was recruited by Ukrainian intelligence in November 2023.

According to reports, he was promised a $4,000 reward upon successfully completing the mission. The veracity of these allegations is uncertain.

There is no independent verification of these claims. Although it is probable that the suspect intended to harm Carlson, Russia has not presented any evidence to support the claim that he was hired by Ukraine. Former Obama Aides Spill The Beans On Biden

The age of President Joe Biden was extensively discussed by three former Obama administration aides, who raised concerns about whether Americans perceive him as too “frail” to serve another term in the White House. The trio emphasized that Biden’s age is a legitimate concern just seven months before the upcoming election and expressed worries that former President Donald Trump could secure a second term.

Jon Favreau, the chief speechwriter for former President Barack Obama; former Obama speechwriter Jon Lovett; and Tommy Vietor delved into the topic of Biden’s age during the Feb. 14 episode of their “Pod Save America” podcast. During the conversation about special counsel Robert Hur’s decision not to charge Biden after the Justice Department’s investigation into his mishandling of classified documents, Favreau noted that many Americans perceive Biden as a “frail” elderly individual. Hur also voiced concerns that a jury might sympathize with Biden due to his age and memory problems.

“If you watch Joe Biden speak, oftentimes he sounds frail and he sounds more frail than he used to, even in 2019 and 2020,” said Favreau, a Democrat who is strongly opposed to Trump.

“The voice sounds frail, and he shuffles more because of the arthritis in his back. … He is mumbly, and I think that has an effect on people,” Favreau said.

He referenced polling data that indicates a significant majority of Americans express apprehension regarding Biden’s age. Favreau asserted that even if the media were to cease discussing the president’s age, concerns would persist.

He concluded that this is due to individuals relying on their own observations, implying that Biden’s cognitive health is a genuinely pressing matter for Democrats.

Favreau further rationalized that the president’s frequent verbal mistakes hinder efforts to depict him as too old, resulting in polls indicating that most individuals are anxious about Joe Biden’s effectiveness as president. In the meantime, Lovett stated that Trump, who appears more energetic, is successfully portraying Biden as weak.

“When world events seem like they are overtaking him and he’s not out there enough forcefully, that’s what’s getting people concerned,” Favreau said.

In the Michigan primary on Tuesday night, Joe Biden, the current president, faced a setback as over 100,000 Democrats chose “uncommitted” instead of supporting him. Despite winning the primary with 618,006 votes, which accounted for 81.1 percent of the total vote, this result was considered disappointing for an incumbent. The “uncommitted” votes, totaling 100,995, made up 16 percent of Biden’s overall vote.

This raises concerns for the upcoming presidential election, as Biden cannot afford to lose such a crucial swing state if even 16 percent or ten percent of Democrats decide not to vote. In contrast, only 33,383 Republicans voted “uncommitted,” which accounted for approximately four percent of Donald Trump’s total vote of 756,636. In the 2020 election, Biden supposedly won Michigan by a narrow margin of 154,188 votes out of over five million.

Another worrisome factor for Democrats is that, with 95 percent of the vote counted, former President Trump received a total of 756,636 votes in the Michigan Republican primary, surpassing Biden’s vote count by around 140,000 raw votes. In fact, Trump’s 756,636 votes nearly exceed the total number of votes (so far) in the Democrat primary, which stands at 762,254.

Tuesday’s results also provide insight into the 2024 general election polling. According to the RealClearPolitics average poll of Michigan polls, Trump is leading Hunter’s Dad by 5.1 points, with a margin of 47.1 to 42 percent. It is worth noting that Trump has consistently been in the lead in the last eight Michigan polls, while Biden has not held the lead in any Michigan poll since October.

To provide further context, it is interesting to observe that throughout the 2020 race, Trump never surpassed Biden in the RealClear Michigan polling. In fact, Trump’s closest margin was around three points. Therefore, the current five-point lead represents a significant eight-point swing in Trump’s favor.

It is important to consider the historical context as well. The last time an incumbent Democrat president appeared on the Michigan primary ballot was in 2012 with Barack Obama. During that primary, only 20,833 individuals voted “uncommitted,” and the overall number of Democratic voters was 194,887. However, there was no sense of urgency among Democrats to participate in that primary, as Obama was widely supported by the party. The situation with Biden is quite different, particularly among the crucial Arab vote in Michigan. As previously reported, there was an organized campaign among Michigan Democrats to embarrass Biden by encouraging the “uncommitted” vote. Conversely, the Biden campaign made efforts to counter this campaign and discourage the “uncommitted” crusade.
